Growing up in a Southern Baptist Church in the sixties and seventies, I was convinced that I couldn’t be a Christian and an openly gay man at the same time. I was sure that one or the other would have to go. It took many years, but I realize now that it wasn’t I who needed to change, but the world around me. In Matthew Passion, I hope you’ll hear a bit of the struggle, as well as a bit of the bliss, that comes from sublime reconciliation.
